The Demise of School Libraries
Unfortunately, we are dealing with the demise of the school library. Libarays play an import role in the development of reading. According to the article Disappearing School Libraries -Why? The libraries space is disappearing. The physical spaces that libraries are given are much smaller than usual and there are fewer focuses on the school likeOne reason might be

"In short, libraries belong to a special category of space and social rules and are often inhabited by people sympathetic to your desires. School libraries are other spaces. They do not perform the logic of the rest of the school."(Wood 2018)
Since the library is a place for students to roam, talk to friends hang out, do work or choose what t do there is less focus on what traditional school is structured as.
Richard J. Cox even wrote a book about the decline of the school libraries. He books go on to talk about how there has been a steady declined in school libraries and how it affects students.
Libraries are a place to learn and with the decline of them and the small space that there given it makes it harder for students to find a place to work and a place to hang out with friends.
I couldn't even imagine what my school life would have been without my school library. This was a place my friends and I would go to finish up homework and catch up with one another during breaks and lunches.
